Accesing the OS at the DOS level

Is Flex suited to creating an app that can access and initiate commands at the DOS level in a Windows environment? I'm relatively new to Flex and wonder if I could create a network analyzer that could perform these types of routines. This is more of a "can I do it" question. Does anyone on the forum have experiece doing this? I know there are plenty of free NA apps out there but it would be sweet if I could develp my own just to say I did. Thanks.

No, flex is not suited to this. You could probably get an AIR app to do
this by using Merapi, but don't expect it to be anything like easy.
