Why not stick with Flash html5 canvas?
Everything is changing in 2016 anyway > Welcome Adobe Animate CC, a new era for Flash Professional | Adobe Flash Professional Team Blog
I think that example can be done easily in Edge
You can use the built in easing and you can randomise "particle" movements with a line of jquery and you could also use greensock's tweens via some code.
Many thanks for responding. When Adobe Animate CC comes out next year, am I delusional to think that I'll be able to load my Flash files and publish them in a way that works without the Flash player on iStuff?
You should be able to publish for iOS but I would ask the question on the Flash forum instead of here. For now, Flash uses CANVAS for HTML5.
It is already available, just open your existing FLAs in Flash CC, break apart any text, (twice) and then convert your file to Canvas from the Commands menu. You can keep your AS3 FLA as a separate file. Your actionscript will be commented out. There are some scope differences between AS and JS for instance stop() is now this.stop()
Flash CC writes all the canvas code, you can inspect it in your published JS file.
I have not used Flash for years in a professional environment. Can you give us a list of the things that can be done and published in HTML5? for example, can you use drag n drop, input text and calculations (forms), etc...
Do you mean that anything created with AS3 can be published as HTML5?
Drag and drop is in this tutorial.
And this video goes over converting AS3 to JS
