hmm not working. it compiles and runs, but doesn't paste after executing. i have a text member named "xyz" my code is
i also tried member("xyz").text.copyToClipboard() but that doesn't compile.
i noticed your example has "feildMember". is this different from a regular text member? i haven't seen any documentation on this.
As far as I've been able to find out, copyToClipboard is more for copying director objects. I'm not sure if there's something special that I need to do when copying text.
I've also tried the copy function in the Buddy API xtra but it doesn't support shockwave.
The documentation doesn't seem to explicitly say that it only works for
field cast members, but that does seem to be the case. If you don't want to
change your text cast member you are currently using, you can have a field
text member invisible or located outside the stage area. You'll need some
lingo to sets the field's text to the text of the text castmember before
copying it to the clipboard.
Actually, you don't need to place the field cast member on the stage at all.
As long as it is in the cast you can use it as a "middle man" to transfer
text from a text cast member, into the field cast member, then into the
Awesome! I got it to work using an invisible field member like you said, apparently copyToClipboard() doesn't work with text members.
Glad to hear it. See my other response though, as I realised you don't have
to even place the field cast member on the stage.
