Am new to LR and this blog. I have lot of photos from different cameras all over the local disc on my Mac and I need to find them on my computer, rename them consistently, and move them to an external drive
Ideally, i will be able to do this in LR. If not, can anyone recommend an affordable utility to do this ?
Also, my assumption is that the export process will find any duplicate photos and delete the identical copies. This is important as I am sure there are many duplicates
LR 5 can't, doesn't, have a feature to scan your drive and if it did it would come up with every JPG or PNG file on your drive including images with those file extensions that are part of OS X or some other program on your drive.
But you can do the same thing with Finder and or the built in Search function of OS X. But then again it would find all images with whatever file extension you used for the search. There might also be a separate program/app to find ALL IMAGE files no matter what the file extension. The only problem with something like that is more than likely would not turn up RAW image files as they aren't really images they are RAW sensor data.
Everything you can do apart from scanning the computer.
You will be able to organize/rename to the files imported to Lightroom.
