InDesign Problems - Slow, and Crashing

    defkopta116

I have been using InDesign for around a year now, and more and more regularly it's been just plain not working. Freezing, slowing down to the point of unusability, crashing for no reason.

I have checked this problem on the forums before, but all I hear is that I should make sure I'm updated (which I am), and that it's a known problem... bugger.

Today it's crashed about 7 times in rapid succession on a simple text box movement. Now it seems to be crashing on everything.

For $50 a month I really do expect a good product. Increasingly, it looks like this is no InDesign. If it were reliable, then yes, it would be perfect. But I can't have a product that just crashes periodically and needs constant finger-crossing to make work.

I also note that unless I call or chat (which is unavailable today, I guess because it's a weekend), then there's no way of getting in contact. There's also no way of giving feedback. What a circular website! I have been a big fan of Adobe up until this started happening... now I'm not so sure.

      Any helpful ideas?

Welcome to this forum. Don't worry I bet your problems are sorted out within a day from some of the knowledgable contributors on here!

As mentioned by Willi, let them know your InDesign version and your OS and check the system requirements: System requirements for Adobe InDesign CC for Mac and Windows OS

Have you tried trashing your InDesign Preferences: Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your InDesign preferences

Also are you running any InDesign plug-ins, font management apps etc?

            Hi Willi (and Derek),

Cheers guys. My Version is InDesign (CC) 11.1.0.122. Fully updated.

My OS is Windows 7 64 Bit, 8GB RAM, 3.4GHz.

@Derek Cross - I have tried that. But it so far hasn't made any difference, sadly.

              Hi

first of all - sorry for my English - Google :-)

I have such symptoms InDesign happens when included Preflight

Check it out, you may have it enabled.

I have it turn on only when the publication is completely ready and I need to check for errors.

Looking for your bug report - InDesign swears on the text box (fonts).

              This is sometimes happens.

Probably the problem is in the fonts.

Try turning OFF all the fonts used in the publication, and then turning ON them one by one - Probably you can understand what font is bad

                Hi mate,

Thanks for that... I tried turning them off (the typekit in CC, right?), but it made no difference. Today InDesign is randomly crashing when I use images... anything at all, it will just crash.

Please upgrade to the latest version CC 2015.2 (11.2.0.100). Based on the error log you posted I can confirm that this crash is fixed in CC 2015.2. Let me know if it still doesn't work for you in CC 2015.2

Hi Gaurav, cheers mate, that seemed to do the trick!
