I have verified all the things that you have suggested, but the slideshow crashes Lightroom completely whenever I try to play the slideshow. I recall reading somewhere that the slideshow depends on the GPU. Is that correct? Do you have any suggestions other than what you have already given?
Yes it does uses GPU when Playing Slideshows. We have seen many users having this issue. It has been reported to Engineering team.
What does the crash report says?
I haven't printed the crash report, but the error message that comes up simply says that Lightroom has stopped working and my only option is to close the program. I don't have a dedicated video card. I'm just using the integrated graphics on the motherboard. It used to work in Lightroom 5, but I'm no longer able to use it. It's not a big deal because I have many other options. I guess I should spring for a graphics card.
