I am trying to create a dotted outline around some text.
I have followed the tutorial in Adode for Applying line stroke settings which all makes perfect sense, however....
I highlight the text, open the stroke panel but although the 'weight' and 'mitre limit' can be changed, the 'type' is faded out so all I seem able to do is have a bold outline instead of choosing to have dots.
I have also tried type / create outlines but this just removes the whole word.
I'm at a loss....if that 'type' wasn't faded out I'd be home and dry!
I'm puzzled by the text disappearing part of your post. Converting to outlines makes it shapes rather than text, but it shouldn't disappear (perhaps it's filled with [None]?). You should be able to create the outlines, then select with the selection tool and add the dotted stroke.
Hi, you cannot apply a special line styles in InDesign to live text.
So we have to do a workaround:
1. Select the text (one or more characters)
2. Hold the alt key (on Mac OSX) and go to the text menu and chose "Create Outlines"
That will give you an outline duplicate path of the selected live text.
To that path you can apply the dotted line style (or any other you prepared).
Brilliant! It works! Thank you soooo much!
