Formatted a hard drive without first taking a copy of my .lrcat backups. Now, using file recovery software, I have got a few different version of the .lrcat over a period of 4-5 months but none of them open in Lightroom (v 5.7.1). 'Repairing' the file does not work either and when I try to 'Import from another catalog' I get a message saying 'the catalog does not appear to be a valid Lightroom catalog'. Any ideas if this is fixable or should I just accept that I will not get the old catalog back?
It is hard to get them back now but If the catalog is corrupt ,You could give this a try on a copy of your catalog(not the original one) Recover A Corrupted Unrepairable Lightroom 3 Catalog With SQLite | More Photography Tips | Photography Blog, Camera Gear…

I have a corrupt lightroom catalog, I tried to recover with the sqlite instructions but I can get no where. My lightroom catalog is stored on an external hard drive. Is there anyway to recover?
