CS6 is completely unsupported under El Capitan. Beyond trashing preferences and/or unticking autohide menu bars in the OSX system prefs, you are on your own.
CS6 has reached EOL and will not be updated.
I have the same problem, working in CS6 with updated system, and I have so many problems with Indesign, Illustrator, and now Photoshop.
Am I being forced to go to CC?
Does CC have an issue with El Captain?
I have clients that still want files in CS6 so I will now have to supply a back saved file.
Any advice would help.
No, you are not being forced to do anything nor were you forced to move to El Capitan.
Only you can decide what to do but if you really need to stick with CS6 you may want to roll back your operating system or consider a dual boot.
I am having the same issues. I delayed upgrading to El Capitan until it was more stable but now I see it is not. Most of my CS 6 apps work but InDesign is a mess. Even with the Java installed and troubleshooting other solutions others have suggested, the program still crashes. Just wanted to post here to say it would be nice if it were to be resolved. It's a shame....This whole "not supporting older versions" of software is really crummy. If anyone has a solution (besides go to CC or uninstalling El Capitan, please advise. Thanks!
