I would suggest you to please udpate the Lightroom 5 Catalog once again, and then open it in LR CC 2015.
Also do you see exclamation mark on the top right of the images ?
Don't you see those images at all in Lightroom CC 2015, and also did you try to upgrade Lightroom 5 Catalog

I have images on lightroom 5 that I can' t access in lightroom cc2015. Why did not all images transfer with the updated version?
Tried selecting them and then manually moving them over, also exporting them but was not successful. How do I move these images to the newer version?
Do you have multiple catalogs in Lightroom 5? You'd have to upgrade each one to Lightroom CC 2015
No I do not see those images in LR CC2015. The only option I saw was to
optimize the catalog under 'File', which I had done yesterday.

There is 1 catalog with all the images there. The Catalog (under under the
navigator) has: All Photographs folder w/ 44 images, Quick collection 0,
Previous Import 2, & Missing Photographs 2. My question is where in this
program does it say' upgrade catalog'? I did find ' optimize catalog'
which I did yesterday.
The upgrade of the catalog happens automatically when you open an LR5 catalog in LR 6/cc.
LR6 will migrate your LR5 data into a new LR6 format catalog with a "-2" added to the end of the name; your LR5 catalog remains unchanged.
This did not happen. I just opened LR5 and there wasn't a catalog folder panel under the navigator panel. So, no catalogs anywhere in LR5.
In LRCC2015 the photos in question still do not exist. There is no catalog w/ a "-2" visible. I do not have LR6 only CC2015. I do not know what else to do or where to look.
There is no command that says upgrade catalog in CC2015. Any other suggestions I may try?
1. Un-install LR5. Get it off your system, you won't use it again.
2. Find your Catalog file ( a file-type of .LRCAT ) using the OS (Windows Explorer / Mac Finder)
3. Open the xxx.LRCAT file (Double-click or Right-click/open)
As ManiacJoe says above-
LR6/CC will migrate your LR5 data into a new LR6 format catalog with a "-2" added to the end of the name; your LR5 catalog remains unchanged.
4. When you next open Lightroom, the default catalog will be the converted catalog.
Consider the 'old' LR5 catalog as a backup only. (If you try to open it a second time you will have another LR6/cc catalog called xxx-2-2.lrcat)
AND- you photos are NOT IN LIGHTROOM!! They exist in folders in your computer. The Lightroom Catalog is a database that shows thumbnails that "Link" to your photos.
AND- You do NOT "Move" anything!!! Everything stays exactly where it was, (Images, catalog )
Thank you for this information. This explanation made my issue much clearer.
