Importing Excel data can very simple in InDesign. Can you expand on your specific project and what you need to achieve? More details would very helpful.
but it has to be error free
Do you mean error free in the text or formatting? When you Place an Excel doc, the Place dialog lets you Show Import Options. You can choose to place it as an unformatted table and apply any InDesign Table Style.
Each month I have to produce a report of the Best Workers, so far I have a 9 page document (for this month) created in InDesign which includes one picture, then text then I need to insert an Excel file that is a simple one, then text again, then excel file and then text then excel file and so on, nine times. The Excel files will look like that... Worker number, worker name, the word 'bonus' and the bonus amount - simple
1 Jim Jones bonus 200
2 Jasmin Smith bonus 250
3 Tom Roger bonus 180
The problem is that I have to pisssition the excel data accurately on the InDesign page so it is a bit tricky and how do I do that please??
error free means that the Import process will work, I don't want an error message a month later that "month was not nominated'' or what ever. I have to have a ''step by step'' very accurate process to follow to make sure that the data is actually imported.
I can't go to the meeting saying that I don't have the results : )
