I have a Macbook Pro with 256 GB SSD drive. The default location for Lightroom to store my backup files is in a "Lightroom" folder inside my Pictures folder on my Harddrive. This folder is consuming 75% of all the memory on my hard drive. Do I have to save all the dated backup folders, or can I just save the most recent backup? If I move the folder over to my WD 2TB external drive, will Lightroom be able to find them if necessary? Please help, I'm running out of memory fast.
There is no need to keep all the old back up, you can just keep couple of recent ones.
You can even change the BackUp storage location at the time of doing backup only and can ask Lightroom to create back-up on to the external drive.
Thank you. I will delete all but the last few backup folders and that will free up GBs of space. And I will direct the 2016 backup files to be saved on the external disk.
I appreciate your quick response.
You are welcome.
Glad to help you and would like to tell you that now lightroom backup creates a zip file which do not take much space either.
