I cannot repeat your results by cutting out a part of clip 1 and ending up with a different end time for the last clip of your Timeline.
How are you are doing that deletion
a. right clicking the portion to be deleted and selecting Delete from the pop up menu
b. something else?
Do not use Delete and Close Gap, if that is what you are doing? Using that can result in the type of issue that you are describing.
Please consider and then we can compare details and results.
I have been using the Delete button on the keyboard and it turns out that defaults to the close and gap feature. I wish i could change that as it would save me right clicking and selecting just the "delete option"! What i have noticed how ever is if i trim a clip, not selecting it but just trimming it, that can also auto move the other clips that proceeds it which is equally annoying. To get round this though i just drag the clip i want to trim into another track, do what i need to do and drag it back into place. I was used to another program and 've only had Premiere elements for 2 weeks so suppose its getting used to their quirks.
Please explore the following.
Go to Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization and set for Windows instead of Application.
Then go to Timeline Window and "Delete and Close Gap" and change the command to something other than Delete, maybe Ctrl + X.
Then go to Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization and set for Application instead of Windows.
Then go to Edit and "Delete" and apply the command Delete there.
Does that work for you?
Elements is set default to what is called ripple delete.
To avoid rippling try shift+delete.
trimming without the rest moving: hold down ctrl+alt while trimming
If you are used to using just the Delete key for your routine deletes in the situation that you have described, it might be easier to remember and to keep with just the Delete key as the command for "Delete" of the selected clip without ripple. But, lots of possibilities to decide what works for you.
Please refer to the following for overall possibilities for Keyboard Customization in Premiere Elements 14.
Thank you all for you input for this! I will use all your advice when making my next feature! Thanks guys!
