Have you tried creating New catalog just for testing to see if its a catalog Issue.
In Order to create test catalog Click on File Menu << New Catalog.
Just tried this with the same result. Taking FOREVER. Nothing has changed on my end. Something changed in Lightroom, I am not the ONLY person seeing this. When are you going to fix this? I make my money taking photos, your system is inhibiting my ability to make more money and I am paying for this service. If I render your system a detriment to my business I will find an alternative. This is what I stare at for hours trying to import photos. Please either tell me the solution or let me know you have zero intentions to correct this issue and I will immediate seek alternatives.

This could be your card reader is malfunctioning.
Try using different hardware to import.
Agreed, I recently switched from Apple Aperture to Lightroom CC and Lightroom import is about 100x slower than Aperture was on the same damn computer. It's so slow, that my typical workflow is to copy the contents of the SD card to my local hard drive, start the import and come back the next day. This is on a $10,000 Mac Pro!!
