What version of Premiere Elements, what computer operating system?
How are you opening these saved closed projects?
If you go directly to the saved closed project file on the hard drive save location, right click it, select Open With, and then the name of your Premiere Elements version, does the project file open correctly to the Premiere Elements workspace?
Please consider, and give details.
Right open it has not worked.
Premiere Elements is version 14.1
The operating system: OSX YOSEMITE 10.10.5
And the strange thing is that on Friday, worked perfectly and today has stopped.
Thank you for the follow up.
On Friday, were you working with Premiere Elements 14 instead of the current 14.1? Or, Friday and today, you are working with 14.1?
It is the version 14.1 since I bought it a month ago. Until Friday did not give me any problems.
Today I started 3 projects, and I try to open them again came the message: The project is not current version Compatible with ...
But it leaves me open and start new projects ...
I do not know if you should uninstall and reinstall ...
Thanks for the follow up.
I am strictly an Elements Windows user who tries to find common ground between Premiere Elements Mac and Windows issues.
That being said, I may need your help in finding Mac features for what I am used to using with Windows.
1. In Mac, do you have a place to set for applications that will open with certain file extensions? If you do, then please check to determine what application is set to open when you open a file with the .prel file extension.
2. But, reflect, after you save close these projects, are you moving, deleting, or renaming files and folders that were imported into the project and its Timeline?
Are your source files stored on an external hard drive that might be malfunctioning?
3. If the above are not applicable, an uninstall/reinstall is a good troubleshooting choice to expedite matters.
As your schedule permits, we will be watching for your progress.
Thank you ATR
I will try to install the program to see if the problem is resolved. If I fail, I will communicate with you.
I am having the exact same problem. I created a project yesterday using Premier Elements 4.1 on a Mac running OS X 10.11.2. I attempted twice to open the project I saved and I get the error message "The project is not compatible with current version of Premiere Elements." Do I have to recreate the wheel and start all over again with my project?

Premiere Elements 14.1 on Mac OS 10.11.2
Does this issue relate to updating from 14 to 14.1?
Have you gone through all the comments and results in this thread (especially post 5) and come away with still having the problem?
Does the problem exist if you open a new (this is just a test) project, do some minor work in it, and then determine if you can reopen it after a save close? Also, how many of your other saved closed projects will not open if for at this time? Consider
a. uninstall reinstall of program
b. starting a new project depending on the course of events
Did you purchase Premiere Elements 14 from Adobe as download within the last 14 days?
The program is bought (downloaded) on November 23, 2015
Yesterday I uninstalled it and went back to install and function properly, but do not let me open the three projects started yesterday.
I think it was because of an upgrade from 14.0 to 14.1 ...
Thanks for the follow up.
Please refer to the Adobe document on troubleshooting damaged projects to determine if any of that applies to your 3 problem projects that will not open.
The following described the details of the 14.1 Update.
We can talk about 14.1 Update in relation to your 3 problem projects, but, at this time, the target is probably more likely what is in the project file itself.
The answers will be in the details. We can discuss this further after you go through the Adobe documents cited above.
Thank you for the troubleshooting suggestions. I tried trashing the Adobe Premier Elements Preferences file and restarting the program. I then attempted to open my projects. This time it was successful...the project now opens. THANK YOU!!
