Would suggest you to move videos from that specific folder to some other location and try to import the rest of the images in Lightroom.
Did this start happening after the last update?
That worked for the stills. I thought I had tried that technique but I guess not.
So now what can be done to get the videos to import?
I have video from 2 new cameras, the Olympus EM5 MkII and the DJI Osmo. The OS can see both without any trouble.
A lot of things changed recently for me. I upgraded to El Capitan (10.11) from Mavericks a week ago when I got the EM5 MkII. Plus I got the DJI Osmo later that week and the latest LR was at the end of Nov.
Would suggest you to update QuickTime player and then, try to import video files in Lightroom.
Updates in OSX are handled through the App Store menu item under the Apple Menu.
I have no updates pending. Not sure how to find updates the OS isn't asking for.
Thanks for the update.
Would suggest you to make sure that the source folder that contains videos has full read and write permissions.
Also, go to help menu within Photoshop > system info> paste the information here.
Yep, tried that before I started this thread. Permissions are still correct.
I am running Lightroom cc15 latest version and using an up-to-date iPhone 6 — LR consistently hangs when trying to import even a very small number of images from the phone, only 5-10 shots... eventually I get a message that 'the following files were not imported as they could not be read...
Tried normal import to server folder, and to a desktop folder. Same deal for both.
Would suggest you to go to Lightroom Preferences > Performance > uncheck "use graphics processor" > relaunch Lightroom and then, try to import.
Also, make sure that your destination location has full read and write permissions.
Please share the system information as well.
That is not the complete information.
Go to help menu within Lightroom > system info > paste that information.
In Photoshop? or Lightroom?
Because guess what else locks up my machine.
LIGHTROOM - ->
HELP - ->
Yep, LR Stops responding.
Yes, I meant for Lightroom.
Also, go to Lightroom Preferences > Performance > uncheck "use graphics processor" > try to import videos.
Sorry, With "use graphics processor" turned off, it still locks up as soon as you select a folder with videos in it from the import dialog box.
Needless to say that the normal operation of importing files from a memory card will always include video files. Everything worked great for years with LR (I've owned every version) Now after upgrading to El Capitan and LR 6.3 it no longer works. (The OS alone has no issues with video files)
If Adobe is aware of this problem and is working to correct it just say so, I can be quietly disgruntled and patient. But searching for weird work-a-rounds isn't going really meet my needs.
