I am sorry, Lightroom does not support tethered shooting for Sony Camera, I would request you to use the Sony Software for tethering.

You could use the Sony Remote Camera Control application to tether to your computer and then set up Lightroom's auto import to automatically import from the folder in which the application places the photos.
Alternatively, you could use Capture One Pro.
Please add add your vote and opinion to this feature request in the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom: Add Tethered Support for Sony cameras
Is there still no update to fix this?
It is getting time for supporting Sony cams, isn't it? Using several programs to archive this task is inconvenient and not even close to the user experience with my old Canon cam. Is there a plan for implementing this for the subscribers?

As far as I know, Lightroom does not support tethering to any Sony camera. If Sony doesn't supply the proper code to support tethering, then there is no tethering unless you write your own code (like Capture One apparently did). I suspect (this is my guess) that Adobe isn't going to write their own code for this (because they never have in the past). If that's right, you will be waiting an awful long time.
Grrrrr..... Decent enough solution with auto import.... but still annoying. Thank you for the info. I've got both lightroom and Capture one pro 9, and lightroom processing is perhaps a notch down in quality, but several notches up in speed. So it's trying to pick the right tool for the job...
