1. Re: How do I make Lightroom recognize my GPU so it doesn't keep using the on board Intel 4600 as the graphics processor?
trshaner Jan 3, 2016 7:31 AM (in response to ExpatPNW)You will need to disable the Intel HD Graphics 4600 GPU as outlined here:

ExpatPNW Jan 3, 2016 7:50 AM (in response to trshaner)Thanks for your response.
I do not have a 'Lightroom 6' subfolder, only 'Lightroom/Preferences' which contains a file called 'Peferences.wfprefs' (which does not contain the content I need to remove).

ExpatPNW Jan 3, 2016 8:10 AM (in response to Made in London)Unfortunately, this did not help. There is no option to select what graphics driver is just being used; only the option to use or not use the Intel 4600.

5. Re: How do I make Lightroom recognize my GPU so it doesn't keep using the on board Intel 4600 as the graphics processor?
ExpatPNW Jan 3, 2016 8:16 AM (in response to ExpatPNW)I have also tried setting the GeForce as the default in all areas that are available (3D and PhysX etc... I only have the option to set as default for Photoshop in the Nvidia control panel, not Lightroom).
I have also tried disabling the Intel 4600 in device manager but when I try to enable 'use graphics processor' in Lightroom it tells me it can't "due of errors"...

Did you look at the illustration near the bottom of that link? You need to disable the Intel graphics processor in the Device Manager.

7. Re: How do I make Lightroom recognize my GPU so it doesn't keep using the on board Intel 4600 as the graphics processor?
ExpatPNW Jan 3, 2016 8:24 AM (in response to ExpatPNW)If I right click the Lightroom icon it gives me the option of which GPU I want to open Lightroom with (which does allow me to use the GeForce as the graphics processor in the Performance tab). It also gives me the option to choose a default GPU, but when I select this it just takes me to the Nvidia control panel and displays the same list of apps that I can change the default GPU for that doesn't contain Lightroom...
I can just keep right clicking the icon for now but I would still like a permanent solution.

ExpatPNW Jan 3, 2016 8:25 AM (in response to JimHess)I have also tried that.

9. Re: How do I make Lightroom recognize my GPU so it doesn't keep using the on board Intel 4600 as the graphics processor?
JimHess Jan 3, 2016 8:30 AM (in response to ExpatPNW)Well, you could just leave it disabled in Lightroom and not worry about it. Unless you have a high resolution (4K or 5K) monitor you likely wouldn't see much change in performance anyway.

ExpatPNW Jan 3, 2016 8:35 AM (in response to JimHess)I have a 4K display. This is also just part of troubleshooting I'm doing to figure out why Lightroom is operating insufferably slowly.
Thanks for your help.

Try updating with the latest Nvidia GeForce Graphics drivers here:
Forgot to add: During the driver update installation select Custom (Advanced) and check 'Clean Install.'
