    getURL

    TPRS
I want to use the getURL script to not just get another .swf movie,
but to goto a specific frame in that movie and then stop. Goto parameters
don't appear in the getURL syntax and a nested gotoAndStop command
      doesn't seem to work.

you can add a query string to the url and then parse that string using javascript (if your getURL target is the swf's embedding html file) or parse that string using the _url property of you main timeline (if your getURL target is the swf)

kglad - thanks. I've been researching what you said, javascripting is new to me.
In my case, the getURL target is the swf's embedding html file. I can put a query
string in the getURL. Can you direct me where I can best find out how to parse
            that string using javascript?

use google to search for "javascript parse url". you should find plenty of references.

could you use a loadMovie type thing instead of a getURL type thing? Why involve the html page?
