I wanted to add a very specific hat to my puppet, so to save a little time I inserted a PNG of the hat into the illustrator file with my puppet. When I import the puppet to character animator the hat doesn't show up. I ended up producing the hat to the best of my ability within illustrator, and it looks fine but just for future reference.. is there a way to get a PNG to import into Ch? I'm mainly thinking of saving time when I want to make a video with many detailed props. My limited skills in illustrator make creating a high volume of props time consuming for me.
The only way I've been able to do it is to save the png as a psd and import that.
I think Jerry is correct - you need to save it as a PSD. So yes, you could import any props you want into CH as psds, and then drag them onto your character within the Puppet Panel hierarchy.
The other option would be to do the whole character as a PSD instead of an AI file, if you plan to include a lot of these kind of raster elements.
