Hi Herb Dorfan,
- "They import as *.DNG not the expected *.ARW"
- Is this the name of the DNG files that they take after import or anything else.
- While importing make sure you are not applying any preset.
- Also try importing images from Desktop or some other location and see if the issue appears.
Look at the top of the import window. Have you selected "Copy as DNG"?
Like magic. I don't understand why but copying files 1.ARW, 2.ARW to the desktop of my Win10-64 machine did the trick. They, then, imported correctly as 1.ARW etc.
However if I imported the identical files from C:\Users\Herb\Photos\Light whree they reside with the ARW extension, the extension is changed to DNG on import.
Does anyone know why?
Thank you for trying to help me, but Copy as DNG is not selected.
Importing from the desktop solves the problem. Do you know why? I don't.
Probably because when you try to import them you are wither using Copy as DNG or some preset while importing.
Or it can be something else with the location from where you are importing.
