If the printer options in the OS's printer settings have changed, you should check with Epson if you are using the correct driver for your printer model.
LR uses the printer dialog from the OS and has now influence on its appearance and features.
Thank you very much! I re-installed the drivers from the Epson website by Add a new Printer dialog and then have a CD and pointing to the newly downloaded drivers and this fixed the issue. However, now I have two Epson printers in the Devices and Printers: one is Epson 1400, the other is Epson 1400 Series... The Epson 1400 Series is the one which works as expected in the Lightroom environment.
Glad it works for you now.
If the second printer bugs you, I'd suggest to remove it. I assume that W10 converted it to a universal Epson printer which are usually missing some of the printer specific features - just a thought.
I tried removing it, but then nothing works The idiosyncrasies of using Windows... However, The second printer existence doesn't bother me as long as all works out. And you are right about the conversion to a generic Epson Stylus 1400 printer with limited ability.
