I am working in a InDesign document where I have a linked excel document. Most of the times it works fine to update the links when the client make changes in the excel file. But problem starts to appear when I am making a change in the excel document. Then I am asked to import it again because the link is broken and can not be updated. The question is why it stops working?
I've the same issue especially when I delete a line in Excel ==> the link becomes broken and I have to start over. Did you manage to find a solution ?
Thanks in advance.
I think, to be on something we can call perhaps the "safe side" with linking to Excel spreadsheets is:
1. Never change the number of rows and columns of the table in InDesign.
2. Never add contents to additional rows and additional columns in Excel.
And recently we had the problem of the wrong formatting of supercripted numbers, because the cell's format in the Excel spreadsheet was "Text" and not "General":
