    Click Through Pages?

    Needhelp2
I need help creating pages that notify the visitor that they are leaving our site and going to another site and vice versa when they return...how is this done? I have all the links ready to be intigrated for the exit, but don't quite know how to create the pages and how to get them on the other end when they return to our site.

      Thanks!

Why annoy your visitors with that?

Lawyers rarely make good web designers ;o)

          That would be REALLY annoying.

You'd have to set up a server-side redirect page. All of your links on your
site to external sites would instead point at this redirect page passing the
URL via a querystring. The redirect page would then have the long, annoying,
pontless, wordy, legal disclaimer that you are leaving the site and then
redirect them to whatever site they were going to.

Doing it when they come BACK to your site is going to be a bit
trickier...and a lot more annoying. I'd probably just put a giant header
across the top of your page:

"HEY YOU! This site you are on is our site...not some other site!"

and then set a cookie which would expire in an hour. If the cookie is there,
don't bother showing that silly message. If the cookie isn't there, assume
they left the site for more than an hour and are returning so show the
          message.

Isn't that what the logo, page title and headings do anyway? :-)

You and I, and probably Needhelp2 know that.

The issue is that the lawyers don't get that. ;o)

It's always the lawyers that want to add those silly pages to web sites and
the 50-line legal disclaimers to their email signatures.

Use an icon beside the links that indicate that the link is to somewhere off
                your site.

Use cookies to track when they left and when they come back.

Rather than a pop-up notice, why not use a wee image of a globe
indicating this site is outside my site, beware. It's very commonly seen
on other sites with a notation to that effect somewhere. At the moment
an example doesn't come to mind as my mind has shut down for the night

Thierry uses a little square with an arrow - http://www.tjkdesign.com - look

And everybody else in the world - and that's my point - the lawyers need to
                      get that.
