Can't authorize 2nd computer with Adobe ID on ADE

Just got this message from Adobe when I tried to authorize my second PC (it is new one replacing one that crashed and was authorized). 

"You can only authorize this computer with an Adobe ID that hasn't been previously used to authorize any other computer or mobile devices.  Please try again."

I've had both computers authorized for years.  I use Win 10 on both.   Why a problem now?  Help will be appreciated.

  1. Open Adobe Digital Editions.
  2. Press Control+Shift+D to deauthorize Adobe Digital Editions.
  3. Select Erase Authorization.
  4. Click OK and quit Adobe Digital Editions.
