If they are, this is what should happen - in PS select all & either copy your current layer or Cmd + Shift + A to copy all layers. Switch to DW & hit Cmd + V or use the menus, Edit > Paste. If it is grayed out you most likely have no content to paste. However, the copy all in PS should have got round that one.
If you do mange to paste, you should get the optimise dialog box followed by a prompt to save your file as...
If this is not working for you, perhaps a reboot of your system might fix it. -

Thank you for responding.
Yes, I've done all the things you noted, but to no avail.
Rebooting and reloading all files do not remedy the problem.
The only way is to go through the "Select Image Source". That's a pain if all one wants is a selction of a portion of an image, which means cropping in PS and saving it separately.
As well this method does not open the "optimise dialog" box.
Strange...
