What exact version of Lightroom?
Which external editor?
What are your settings for that editor?
What error messages are you getting?
What happens or does not happen when you try it?
Analog Pro 2
Color Eff Pro 4
Imagenomic Port Silver Effects Pro 2
Message trying to open from LR Is: Lr was unable to prepare the selected file at.....for editing. It will not be opened.
If I open the file directly into the external editor-it cannot be saved.
Do you work for Adobe? There support is terrible. I could never recommend them to anyone again.
Thanks for your help.
Based on those two error messages, it sounds like you have a permissions problem on the file system. (This is common on Mac OS upgrades.) Using Finder, navigate to the folder containing the original image file and verify that you have READ and WRITE access to that folder (and its parent folder).
No, I do not work for Adobe. I am just a user like you. This is a user-to-user forum. There are a few employees that come by (marked with a "staff" icon), but for the most part, it is just us users giving advice and help in this forum. Official Adobe support is given via phone and chat.
Like Mainiacjoe said. Also, you'll get that message if the disk that the image is on is totally full.
You are a saint.I will give it a try.
Would it help for me to download LR 6.3? I do not seem to be able to do this.
Upgrading LR wouldn't hurt, but it isn't going to solve your problem. You need to get the folder permissions straightened away.
I have images stored on Seagate external drives. There is a driver update from Seagate that allows you to unlock them. The problem is that I seem to have lost all meta rating information.
