Keeping the Welcome Screen on the "Create" tab

Evidently I am the ONLY person in this galaxy who actually appreciates the Welcome Screen in InDesign. I keep it on and prefer to have it open to the Create tab where my most recent files are listed. It saves time and energy clicking here and there for the most recent files I've been using. One click, file opens and I get to work. Now, though, every time I close a file, the dang screen is on new features or tips and techniques or whatever. I've been using InD for ....well, ever, and would really just like to get to work. Any ideas on why it won't remember I want the "Create" tab up? Running CC 2014 on El Capitan (yuck) and have had this "issue" just recently; not immediately after upgrading OS.
