Generally that player is updated with Flash Pro updates. There is due to be an Adobe Animate release soon, which do doubt will come with a later player. Could you hold off for now?
The latest version (today) of Animate CC 2017.2 still uses Flash Player 23, when the latest version is 25
Is there a way to keep up with Flash Player version.
PS. I installed the FP 25 but it did not make any difference to Animate CC 2017.2

Just to answer my own question.
I've managed to update CC 2017.2 manually to publish for FP25 by downloading the FP25 swc from Adobe's site and then adding a new folder in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Animate CC 2017\Common\Configuration\ActionScript 3.0 for FP25.0
You also need to copy C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Animate CC 2017\Common\Configuration\Players\FlashPlayer23_0.xml to FlashPlayer25_0.xml and update all references to FP23 and Flash Player 23 etc to FP 25
Also as FP23 is listed as version 34 , and there was a FP 24, then I presume that the < player > should have a version number of 2 more than the version for FP23 which was "34" hence
<player id="FlashPlayer25.0" version="36" asversion="3">
What I said in message 1 is true again at the moment! Don't know when the update will be released.
I can update this myself.
I suspect someone may have blogged about how to do this as its pretty simple when you know how ;-)
