Are you doing the updating with the antivirus and firewalls disabled?

If the Adobe suggestions and others in the thread pointed to do not resolve the issue, please try to open the Adobe Application Manager via the following route on your Windows 10 (assumed 64 bit)
Local Disk C
Program Files (x86)
and, in the core Folder, is the PDapp.exe which you see described as Adobe Application Manager.
Please double click the Adobe Application Manager and determine if updating starts from there.
Thanks for the help, I disabled firewall and antivirus and it worked. Regarding the post by Ann Bens, my account already had admin privileges. It would be good if there was an easier solution in the future, though.
