Do you mean a "running header"?
- What you mean is a running header.
- A running header should be created on the master, on a separate layer on top of all other layers with a text variable based on the headline's paragraph style
- You have to work with Paragraph and Character Styles, but this is a MUST anyway in InDesign.
Not sure what it is called.
I did find out how to fix it though. Under the Windows tab click pages. You get the pop up and then click on the page you want to change then go to the blank pages and click on it there. This will bring up your master blank pages and that is where you can change the heading text. With all these updates it is hard to keep up where to find things. Why fix it if it isn't broke. It seems they just do it to give themselves work to keep busy. Sure messes it up for the rest of us.
Running headers should NEVER be changed manually, you should work with variables. Several methods are possible. Use an automatic solution as far as possible.
