Hi Folks,

Just wondering if it is possible to use Captivate Variables in other applications to retrieve information.

Let's say I have a button in Captivate which opens a word or acrobat pdf file and insert variables which I have created in a Captivate project beforehand - can I associate this to retrieve user information or field forms entry data etc to pull back into Captivate?

If not how would I go about doing this?

Much appreciated for any feedback.

Cheers

Erika

It is conceivable to put CP variables into a PDF, not sure how you could get them back into Captivate.

You can append variables to the URL that opens the PDF. JavaScript in the PDF can read the variables on the URL string.

Not sure if a PDF can use localStorage, but I'm sure Google may have some insight.
