Lightroom crashing after each action: import, search, modify or export.

    mjmbkk

I have reported this problem earlier and it first appeared after deleting the preview folder as suggested solved the problem. After a couple of days  the same problem reoccurred, only now with every action, not just exporting. My setup is the files and catalog are all kept on a 5 TB external drive. The LR catalog properties are: Files-230,000, Folders-5,500 and Size-3.15TB.

Does this exceed Lightroom's parameters/limitations? I'm guessing there is a delay when the program accesses the data that appears as a fault or problem with the disk. The external disk has been checked and is fine with no faulty sectors.

Could the problem be solved by transferring  the catalog from the external drive to the computers SSD built in drive?

      and/or

Should I split the catalog into two separate catalogs? I have kept a single catalog as I often search the entire library for photos.

          Hi mjmbkk,

Would suggest you to make a copy of the catalog on the local SSD drive and check if it works well there.

Could you please confirm which version of Lightroom are you using?

Which operating system and the configuration including memory and RAM?

          Regards,

          Chetna

              Interesting problem...

I Have a QUADRO K4000 card ...is your GPU being used by Lightroom ...You can get a report under the Performance menu.?

Lightroom does not pop a screen in my case to say my GPU has been disabled....

Is your GPU an officially adobe supported GPU?
