What computer operating system?
There have been several reports of the "The project is not compatible with current version".
As a start, please delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file found in Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10
Local Disk C
and, in the 14.0 Folder, is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. Make sure to be working with Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives enabled so that you can see the complete path given. Please restart the computer before reopening Premiere Elements.
I'm on Mac,El Capitan.
Thank you for the important troubleshooting information regarding computer operating system.
I am strictly an Elements Windows User, but I believe the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file should be located in the following location for Premiere Elements 14 Mac. Please determine if it is and delete it.
For Mac OS: <drive>/Users/<username>Library/Preferences/com.adobe.AdobePremiereElements.plist
I found that path in Adobe document on Preferences Adobe Premiere Elements Help | Preferences
There is a shortcut for this type of thing. I typically find the route to the file easier than using the shortcut.
Please check it out and determine if this approach works for you.
To be continued....
Exact same issue for me unfortunately using Premiere Elements 14 on Mac El Capitan.
Working happily away on a project; save, close, go to reopen later when met with the same response.
I've tried your fix above to no avail.
I've read elsewhere that it has to do with using motion titles and this would seem to fit as this is the only project that I've used them and the only one thats having issues.
Any other ideas?
I am using Premiere Elements 14 on a MAC. I've gotten a lot of work done on my project and five minutes ago I tried to open the project file and got the prompt saying "this project not compatible with current version." What can I do? It's like six weeks of work that now won't open! Is anyone else having the same problem? I've tried deleting the prefs file but it didn't work. Don't tell me my project is gone forever. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.
What happens if you open up one of the Auto Saves?
I tried. No luck. does anyone know if it might work to reinstall t program? Does anyone from Adobe ever respond to these threads?
I have the same problem. Customer Care was no help. Any ideas on this? I'm using Premiere Elements 14 on Mac El Capitan. Finishing a project and used Motion Titles as my last step. Closed the file and tried to reopen and now get "The project is not compatible with current version of Premiere Elements." I've seen other people on here with the same problem and have not seen a solution yet. Contacted customer support and all they could say was maybe the project went "bad." Does anyone have a way to solve this? Thanks so much!
