I've been trying to replace a text string I've place at the beginning of a paragraph indicating a certain paragraph style with that ID style while eliminating the text string. For example, I've placed @IN1 at the beginning of a paragraph I want formatted using my ID paragraph style IN1. However, when I "Find what" @IN1 with no find format and "Change to" nothing (i.e. left blank) with the IN1 Paragraph style selected selected under change format, it applies the paragraph style but does not remove the @IN1 text string. When you perform a find/change without the desired paragraph syle portion, it removes the @IN1 correctly. Is this a glitch, or is there something I should be putting in the Change to field to indicate no text? Thanks
Using the GREP tab, find ^(@IN1)(.) and replace with $2 and set the paragraph style in the change format.
The ^ says beginning of paragraph, and the $2 is the second matching sub-expression.
Thanks so much. That did the trick. Is this in the help documentation somewhere so that I can read up on it?
