Unable to DeSelect "White Background" in Image Import Options

I have an image (PNG) with a transparent background.  When I place it in Indesign, it appears with a white background.  Ok, no problem. I must have "white background" selected in the image import options, right?

Yep, turns out I do.  But, for some reason I haven't been able to determine yet, clicking that little radial button won't deselect it.  So, I'm unable to place this png file without a white background.  What the heck is going on here?  I'm tearing my hair out.

I searched this forum and google for an hour, but still haven't had any luck figuring out what is the problem.

If it helps, I'm on a PC and here is the version I'm on:
