I have the same issue but with the trial version. I have not been able to trial anything bc i have been trying to troubleshoot.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times and logged out of creative cloud and signed back on.
It won't let me open lightroom at all.
yes I have the same problem 2 weeks now
I can't find the app area under users.... nowhere can i find anything for lightroom. Is there something else I can do?
Are you on Windows?
If so, the path to the folder is C:\Users\Your user name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences
And the file you're looking for is Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs (you can alternatively do a search for that file)
I got to the preferences area finally, then renamed the file to something else. But i think i did it incorrectly. Nothing has been fixed yet.
Once I get to light room preference I am lost on what to do next. This has been so frustrating. Sorry! ANy help on step by step would be really appreciated!
You should just delete the file.
I assume that your trial is Lightroom CC (version 6), in which case the file to delete is Lightroom 6 Preferences.agprefs.
If that doesn't work, try solution 2 here: Lightroom doesn't launch or closes automatically after splash screen
Thanks for all the help
I've tried what you suggested Per Berntsen
deleted the lightroom 6 preferences and tried solution 2.
After doing the above, I open lightroom and the login splash comes up.
I enter my login details and it sits there for a bit. Tells me to enjoy the product, but then lightroom doesn't launch!
Back to square one. Any other ideas?
Windows 10 updates are known replace your monitor profile with a manufacterer's profile, and these profiles are notoriously bad, and can cause problems in LR.
It's usually Library and Develop displaying different colors, but I think I have seen a report of this causing LR not to open. (not quite sure though)
But it's easy to check - by setting as sRGB as the monitor profile:
Press the Windows key+R, enter colorcpl, and hit Enter.
Add the sRGB profile, then set it as Default profile. See screenshot (from Windows 7) below.
If this fixes the issue, you should ideally calibrate your monitor with a hardware calibrator.
You could also try to disable the GPU in LR's preferences, see this thread In CC, the Develop module will not respond. for instructions on how to do that.
If nothing else works, the only thing I have to suggest is uninstalling, then running the CC Cleaner tool Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
followed by a reinstall.
Followed your directions, no luck I'm afraid. I created another windows acoount and still the same result.
I have Lightroom 5.6 still on my computer and that loads fine.
When I load Lightroom CC, it will ask to upgrade the old catalog, so something is working. It just fails to launch to the splash screen
I'm not sure why it happened all of a sudden as it was working last week,
Any other ideas?
