Did you buy Lightroom or merely download the program? If you bought it from Adobe, they will have emailed you the serial number. If you didn't buy it, you'll be able to run the program for 30 days, at which point you'll need to buy a license (which will get you the serial number)..
ive uninstalled it now-was getting so frustrated, signed up to the creative cloud and using lightroom cc? prusambly it works the same way ? as lightroom 6?
The program works pretty much the same way. It has a couple of features that LR 6 doesn't have, but yes.
There are two licensing models for LR but the program is the same, just different features available depending on the license.
LR 6 is a standalone licensed version that uses a serial number that you pay for up front and will continue to work forever (assuming it still runs on future computers). Because you pay once at the beginning new features aren't available until the next major release, i.e. LR 7, assuming there will be a LR 7.
LR CC is a cloud-licensed version that you buy an annual subscription for and pay 1/12th of the annual fee every month. If you stop paying then it stops working. You also get Photoshop CC (a more expensive program) along with LR CC for the annual subscription price. Because you're paying monthly you get new features as soon as they are ready.
LR 6 is US $149 if it's your first LR purchase, or US $80 if it is an upgrade from a previous version of LR.
LR CC + PS CC is US $120/year billed US $10/month.
When you say that you signed up for the cloud, do you mean you purchased a $120 annual subscription to LR + PS billed $10 each month, or do you mean just entered in your e-mail and password and downloaded the CC app without paying any money, yet?
