    DIV help!

    AudreyWalker1
      I'm trying to teach myself to use DIVS since that's what everyone says I need to do. I've almost got my page done correctly except for one section.

      http://graphicvisionsinc.com/NLOW/index3.html

      The Success Stories and Start Networking boxes should be next to each other, with the footer below the three columns. I need the text sections to be expandable since the content will change, so I can't use absolute positioning, and I'm trying to get a handle of the whole float thing. If someone could give some tips as to how to move these sections into place, I would be forever greatful. Thanks!

          You are starting wrong. If someone says that you need to use divs, then
          quietly remove them from your circle of trust, and never solicit their
          assistance again. If someone says that you need to learn how to use CSS to
          layout your page, then that is the person to stand close to. 8)

          Looking at your layout, I just don't think I would do it this way, but the
          source of your problem is the dreaded box model. Your container div is
          529px wide, but the contents are 290+190px, each with 50px padding total
          left/right, so that would be 290+190+50+50=580px width. That's what's
          causing the contents to drop the way they are. To fix this, try changing
          this -

          <div id="container">

          to this -

          <div id="container" style="width:582px;float:right;">

          and see what happens. Now all you need to do is to push it a bit to the
          left with some right margin, and you should be set....

            I thought I new how to use CSS, I used CSS when I used tables, but apparently that's not the standard anymore? Either way, whatever is "right" or "wrong" I would like to be able to design/build using both methods. This is my first attempt using DIVs, and I'm struggling. Especially since I've done it the other way for so long.

            The alignment problem is solved, but the problem still exists that if one of the three bottom columns has more info than one of the others, I need all three sections to expand. I would also like to change my text so that it is a % and not a fixed size, but until I can figure out the column issue, I have to leave it fixed.

            Thanks for your help thus far, I've googled to get me this far, but I'm having problems knowing what to google.

                That's great, but it doesn't seem to work in anything but IE, I must be doing something else wrong?
