How do I pull off this effect?

How's everybody doing! I'm working on pre production for a music video currently, and I was wondering on how to pull of a certain effect found in this Frank Ocean video...

The girls in the background barely being seen, through the smoke, and things relating to that.

All help would be greatly appreciated.

That's nothing more than a layer with partial transparency that has been masked only show the girl.  The real trick is matching the camera angle and the camera move. If the camera angle is perfectly matched you can get away with a lot of camera movement in accuracy by using motion tracking.

There's nothing more than very basic layering, keying or roto and motion tracking required.
