We `ve got a problem with InDesign running an a win7-PC. The grafic-project-data are stored on a network share on a windows 2012 server, so that they can be included in the symantec backup job. Also they can be accessed from two workstations. Every now and then the access to this data over LAN is rather slow and sometimes the pc is hanging and must be restarted. Are there any recommended settings in case of storing the grafical data on a network share? Are there any other experiences with such an issue?
That sounds like a network issue, not an InDesign issue.
Turning off the preferences to automatically find and update links will help if there's a problem when you open (and you know the links are OK).
