Postscript designed by brilliant Engineer who was nameless in software design , compiler design etc
But he was giant in knowing what end user , applications and industry need and he has imagination to think about the future for this industry.
Since 15 years and postscript language has no added features!! not even new version !!!!
2006 Adobe itself created another workflow based on PDF to remove softly but surely this language !
Some articles suggested this is the beginning of the end ! and wondered if it will be ever 25th Anniversary of Postscript !!
Adobe official goes online 2008 and invite industry maker an developer to move away from that language!!!!
But Postscript survived!
and now it is 32 years has been passed since the release of Postscript Level One !!
And Postscript still as of today the famous and most used language across the globe !!
NO single laser printer released unless it has postscript built in or as an option!
Even high speed production, graphic arts printing systems who has PDF engine inside , it also has postscript side by side !!
No other Language has been survived till of today as Postscript!!

And your point is what?
There is nothing in the links you provided that was said years ago that isn't playing out as described then.
PostScript still lives and is an option (not always present) in high-end DFEs and RIPs.
But it isn't in or an optional feature of every single laser printer.
By the way PCL is older than PostScript and it is still around.

My goodness you still don't get it !!

There is
- First link said 2006 it is the beginning of the end - 10 years has been passed and no body see any end - specially professionals who knew the difference between PS and PDF - not just sales and marketing funny statues
- Second Link - suggested in 2008 the future for PDF engine and not Postscript - and 8 years has passed and after 4 month Drupa 2016 will come and Postscript still used and working within RIP. Frond End , Every printer
and it is the prime and major engine for VDP
PostScript still lives and is an option (not always present) in high-end DFEs and RIPs.
I don't know if this is makes you happy !!!!!!
Probably less than 10% of High Speed Digital Press is introduced without Postscript just PDF but 90% of them has it !
But 100% of other categories of printers high-med-small volume have postscript either standard or as an option.
But it isn't in or an optional feature of every single laser printer.

PCL is an older language but HP doesn't have plan to remove it or replace it with another product , in fact they still develop it upon any demands - e.g. they have PCL for color printer and continue release newer versions.
