I am very frustrated with Lightroom CC. I have had trouble for some time getting Lightroom to create or move folders even before moving to CC. I hoped CC would solve the problem but it hasn't. I get an error message every time I try to make a folder or subfolder. It says: "The folder /Volumes/Primary Pictures /Photos Go Here/2016/01_Jan2016/Sample Folder Name could not be created on disk." I recently moved Lightroom to a new iMac from my PC, but had the same problem on the PC. And I have updated to the latest version of Lightroom CC.
This sounds like you do not have permission to create a folder in the desired location. Please make sure you have WRITE permission to that 01_JAN2016 folder.
Nailed it, dj_paige. Took me a few tries (forgot to give permission to enclosing folders) but then that that worked like a charm!
