    Question about AIR

    Level 7
      Hi

We are looking to create a standalone application with flash / flashlite for
      the pocket pc.

This cannot be launched in the browser as we need it full screen.

We are a little unsure if adobe air is the product we need.

We need to be able to produce an application that runs full screen and does
not let the user access the operating system with any of the keys (so it is
      completly locked down).

We would also like access to the operating system to read and write xml
files, text files and maybe even database access.

Could anyone provide any information on the suitablity of flashlite and air
      for this type of project.

      Many thanks

      Dave

          Dave,

With Air, you have full File System support so you can write, read, update, delete, create files. Now as far as, your very first question regarding locking down the system, yest you can do that, but will need to some research about getting a java service going in order to "LOCK THE SYSTEM DOWN".

Why FLASHLIGHT? Is it a Trade Show/Kiosk application?

            Thanks for your reply.

We work in the live events industry and provide interactive content over
            pdas to audiences.

We have been deploying flash content over the pdas for years now, using a
product called antmobile to "package" up the flash content into an exe that
locked down the pda. All has been working beautifully. Recently we started
using "Janus" to package up exes and this also works well.

We now need to buy new pdas and with the advent of windows mobile 6, the old
antmobile no longer works, and janus with flash player 7 runs really slowly.

So we tried using flashlite 2.1 and it seemed to run much faster.

But we now need to lock everything down again, so are evaluating Janus
            versus Air

            Any pointers?
