This is perhaps not an InDesign question per se, but I thought you might be able to help me. I work with a client who is happiest typing in Microsoft Word (Windows). I receive his text as a Word document, I design the pages in InDesign, send them to him as PDFs, and he then makes text changes to the Word document and sends me the new file.
What is the best way for me to catch all those changes and get them into InDesign correctly?
Well - you can select a preference (that is off by default) that treats placed text as a link - so that when the link is updated (ie your client makes changes to the word document), the link can be updated in Indesign.
However, if you make changes to the text in the meantime, your changes will be overwritten by the new incoming word document.

You could also look at the WordFlow plugin by Em Software. The Pro version allows a two-way link between Word and InDesign.
+! For WordsFlow.
