This probably means to are using a variable on the wrong type of element. if this is in the console, you should be able to click on the line number to see where the error is.
The 'edge_authoring_mode' variable seems to be created by Edge Animate so I'm not setting it at any point in my script. This is what I see in the console:
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'edge_authoring_mode' of null
l.extend.update @ edge.5.0.1.min.js:110
l.extend.seek @ edge.5.0.1.min.js:107
l.extend.stop @ edge.5.0.1.min.js:107
n.extend.stop @ edge.5.0.1.min.js:137
checkForSound @ Elevate5_Full_edge.js:59
The first four are references to the edge runtime, which of course I haven't created or touched. The last one is generating an error with "thestage.stop(0);" so it isn't a problem with my script. This error only occurs occassionally (seemingly randomly). Any thoughts?
Not sure where the error is but you mentioned thestage.stop(0);
Seems like this shows that you assign thestage to Stage. doing something like:
var thestage = sym.$('Stage');
Is it possible that you wrote instead:
var thestage = sym.$('stage'); // stage with no capital letter
Hi, I just wanted to mention that this error turned out to be related to using the Edge Commons Composition Loader. Apparently, my variable "thestage" (which was point to the Stage as you noted above) was occasionally (based on loading times) still referencing the old stage that had been replaced using the Composition Loader. Thanks for taking the time to try to help with this.
So glad you found the problem! Good luck on your project!
