Do you mean Google Analytics?
To get the most out of GA Tracking code, create a Google Webmaster Tools account and use the Control Panel to assess traffic on your web site. You won't miss the silly hit counter.
At the time of this reply your topic post displays a counter of 36 Views. FWIW the current design of this forum was not created in 1998, so don't pay attention to other people commenting about your site being retro. There are many other websites that use counters. I didn't see anywhere in your post where you were asking if anyone thought a counter was so 1998 and considered retro either so there's that.
Shocker is right. Lots of social media sites tell you how many views there have been, etc.
So my comment was merely my opinion.
Unique views not though. I'm not sure how useful it is to have some one visit your site 100 times possibliy thinking that maybe 99 others have.....hummmm

That's views (unique?) not hits as in server calls. Again, how useful is that even in this Jive environment?
Your comments are noted but you're well aware that the term hit counter stems back to the 1990s and those hit counters provided impressive but meaningless numbers.
The original poster is probably going to be very well served by something like Google Analytics.
I would highly recommend Gostats, I use the same and works well with Adobe and GA
