The exact same way as for cells that do not have a special character in their text. (What is surprising, though, is that you call "." a 'special character'. Why do you call it that?)
I dont want to search into each cell to reach the particular cell.
But rather if any cell in the table is having this character in its text then it should get selected directly without looping.
Is that possible?

Ah - you want to locate a cell containing a particular text string.
I think targeting the table with a findText operation will work best, this is supported for a single table (Adobe InDesign CS6 (8.0) Object Model JS: Table). It returns an array of found items (zero or more), so you will have to decide what to do when it does not return exactly one occurrence. But then it's the usual 'parent' of that particular found text.
