Mysterious lines in Exported Indesign PDF

I apologize if this has already been answered, but I couldn't find an answer anywhere.

I'm working on preparing an illustrated children's book in Indesign. I created all the drawings in Illustrator, and they are complicated, multi-layer illustrations with many patterns and layers.

For my Indesign layout, I've linked to a different Illustrator artboard on each page.

When I export the Indesign layout to PDF, some of the patterns have small lines at what I guess are the pattern edges. There's an example below in the green area. It's confusing, because these don't show up in the original Illustrator drawings or in the Indesign layout, only in the PDF export.

How can I prevent this? Am I following best practices as far as workflow? I get the same result when I save the illustrator artboards as a pdf and then place the pdf into Indesign.
