I ran into a situation where I need Photoshop (or a similar product) to tweak some images. In conversation with a coworker, he directed me to a network drive that contains a copy of Photoshop 7 with the serial code.
Is there a way to use the serial number to see what sort of license the product was purchased under in order that I may know whether it is legal or not for me to use the product?
If you do not own the license, chances are it is not legal for you to use the license. Find the owner and see about getting it transferred to you .
It's definitely not licensed to me individually, but it could be licensed to the company I work for, so it could be legal under certain agreements. Unfortunately, I don't know who would have been involved in the purchase, so I wouldn't be able to transfer the license even if it were licensed individually.
The documentation for Photoshop CS6 mentioned the ability to figure out what sort of license it is based on the serial number, but said to contact customer service for help with that (this is no longer possible, so that's why I'm here).
Anyway, thanks Ned for the idea!
